It's getting cold outside and what does that mean? OOOhhhhh... cue the, "Mom, can we have some hot chocolate?" To which, I gladly oblige, because who doesn't like chocolate, and hot, drinkable goodness to boot?

We make hot chocolate at home from scratch, it's good to know that we can pronounce all of the ingredients, and we can control the sweetness, and chocolatey-ness (yes, I did just make that up!) So this is how we do it:

Ingredients:

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1 pinch of real salt

1/2 cup of filtered water

4 cups of whole milk

1/2 cup of maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

One drop of Young Living Vitality Essential Oil of choice. We like to use Orange Vitality or Peppermint Vitality essential oils.

Directions:

1. Mix together cocoa powder, salt in a sauce pan, then add the water and syrup.

2. Stir and cook slowly over medium heat until it boils. Continue stirring for approximately 1-2 minutes.

3. Slowly add milk and vanilla extract and heat up to desired temperature as you continually stir.

4. Add one drop of your Young Living Vitality oil of choice. One drop is pretty powerful, so we like to keep it to one.

jOILful recipe notes:

We like to use whole milk and raw whenever it is available. Our Maple Syrup, cocoa powder and salt of choice are organic as well!
